Creation process
“The inspiration for this creation came from the fusion of two iconic cities: Paris, the fashion capital of timeless, elegant style, and Venice, the birthplace of dramatic fantasy and intrigue. The bond that unites these two worlds is demonstrated by an emblematic piece of clothing, the sailor suit.
It symbolises one of the iconic pieces of the Parisian wardrobe, effortless elegance and a relaxed look.
It is reflected in the traditional dress of the Venetian gondoliers.
This design is a deconstructed sailor’s dress, with the direction and shape of the stripes warped like the impish attire of Harlequin, one of the characters in the commedia dell’arte, which has been hugely popular in France since its creation in 1576.”
