Meeting with Amélie du Chalard

A contemporary art lover, she left a career in finance to become a gallerist and art director. She founded Maison d’Art in 2015: a new kind of gallery, where she imagines and designs spaces and locations as houses that are lived in, embodied, and alive.

What is your most emotional experience?
The birth of my two children (I had really better put them ahead of crossing the finish line of my first marathon!)

Can you tell us about an epicurean enjoyment?
An enormous breakfast, ideally still in my robe, after exercising. Brunch at Brach, for example!

What does elegance mean to you?
Simplicity but with a detail that makes all the difference.

What’s your most wonderful travel memory?
For being by the water, Vilanculos in Mozambique. For the desert, Lençóis in Brazil. For the chill factor, climbing to the summit of Aconcagua (6,960 meters) in the Andes.

What spurs you on?
The desire to make progress, develop, improve, grow, or in any case try!
